Belly Bandit started in 2017 as a burger joint in the garage of a corner house on Jl. Sam Ratulangi in Menteng. It has since taken over the whole house, adding all-day breakfast, but kept the homely, tree-shaded setting. Co-founders Icha Hartomo and chef Erlene Susanto draw on their student years in San Francisco for American comfort food.
Burgers remain the reason many people come. The Double Cheeseburger uses smashed patties with melted cheese on toasted buns; the Truffle Mushroom Burger and The California are the other regulars, and the Bandit Coffee Burger gets repeat mentions from diners. The wagyu pastrami sandwich, tater tots and thick milkshakes are good additions. Burgers cost about Rp65,000 to Rp95,000.
Suits families, laptop workers and weekend brunch groups, with indoor and outdoor seating and pets welcome outside. Local beer is available. Parking is limited, so come by ride-hailing. Delivery runs via GoFood and GrabFood.
