California Express has been serving California-inspired food on Lockhart Road in Wan Chai since 2024. The neon fast-food look is simple, but the hours stand out: it opens at 10.30am and keeps going until 5.30am, which makes it one of the few places for a proper burger in the middle of the night.
The Cheeseburger (HK$98) is a beef patty with American cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and house sauce; the Double Cheeseburger is HK$128. There is also a Fish Burger (HK$85), a Spicy Chicken Crunch (HK$75), junior burgers from HK$50 and tacos. On the side, the tater tots (HK$39) come in a generous pile.
Best as a late-night stop in Wan Chai's bar district. Foodie notes that Saturday opening may start in the evening, so check before a daytime visit. Delivery is available through foodpanda. Halal status is not stated.
