Beeger is a casual gastropub on Smithfield in Kennedy Town that specialises in two things: craft beer imported from around the world and hand-ground burgers. The original Tin Hau shop has closed, but this second branch is still going strong.
Patties come in USDA Prime beef, New Zealand lamb, US chicken, seafood and vegetarian versions. The house twist is the option to swap the standard bun for a Hong Kong pineapple bun, a sweet, crackle-topped bakery staple that turns a burger into a local fusion dish. The beef-based The Lava (HK$154), oozing molten mozzarella, is the one to try first.
Best for burgers with a few beers among friends. With a burger, side and drink, expect to spend more than at a fast-casual shop. Halal status is not stated. A second phone line is +852 9588 5265, and delivery runs through foodpanda.
