Ashes Burnnit is a hawker stall in the basement of Golden Mile Food Centre on Beach Road, run by founder Syafiq. It became one of the best-known Muslim-owned burger stalls in Singapore, briefly ran an outlet in New York, and remains a regular in hawker centre guides.
Burgers start from about S$8.40. The Ashes Smash Cheese Burger comes on a black charcoal bun with a handmade beef patty, and the Truffle Mushroom Burger and Best of Both World burger are long-standing favourites. A Cheesy Fish Burger (S$10) has been added, and thick-cut fries and mac and cheese are the usual sides.
It suits a cheap lunch near Bugis or Lavender, and the stall closes for an hour mid-afternoon. It is described as halal by its owners and press, but no MUIS certificate for this stall was found, so check at the counter if certification matters. The building is a short walk from Nicoll Highway MRT.
Hours and prices change, so please check with the restaurant before you go.
