Kabo Burger started in 2015 as a small neighbourhood shop in Kwai Chung, run by Mable and her brother, and has grown into a local chain with a strong following among Hong Kongers. The Tsim Sha Tsui shop on Prat Avenue is the easiest for visitors to reach.
The menu is wide: beef, chicken, lamb and pork burgers, plus shrimp and vegetarian patties. The truffle cheeseburger uses a beef patty cooked sous-vide for at least 90 minutes, and the ox tongue burger takes two days to prepare. For something different, the cheeseburger with mala peanut butter and coriander (HK$48) works better than it sounds. Caramelised onion comes on the patty and the crisp, buttery buns get a mention in most reviews.
Pricing is the other draw, with a cheeseburger set including a drink and side for about HK$60, so it suits a quick, cheap lunch. Pork burgers are on the menu, so it is not halal. Kabo has several other branches around Hong Kong.
